Approaching the Hiram Edson Farm Going West Toward Rochester on the New York State Thurway
- The Hiram Edson farm is situated near the New York Thruway between exits 42 and 43.
- If going west toward Rochester, get off the Thruway at exit 42 (Geneva, Lyons).
- Turn right on Highway 14 south.
- Go .2 mile (.3 kilometer) to Highway 96 north.
- Follow 96 north for nine miles (14.5 kilometers).
- You will go through the village of Phelps with two traffic lights.
- The third traffic light you come to will be County Road 25. Turn right.
- Go approximately one mile (1.6 kilometers) to County Road 27.
- There will be a state historic marker for “Gypsum” on the right.
- Turn left on County Road 27 and go approximately 1.4 miles (2.25 kilometers) to Field Street.
- Turn right onto Field Street and proceed .1 mile (.16 kilometer) to the Hiram Edson Sign and turn right on the farm road.
- The Hiram Edson Welcome Center will be visable ahead of you.
- Park your vehicle in the parking lot, next to the house.
Approaching the Hiram Edson Farm Going East from Buffalo/Rochester on the New York State Thurway
- To reach the Edson farm while going east from Buffalo/Rochester, get off the Thruway at exit 43 (Manchester, Palymra), which is Highway 21.
- After leaving the toll gate, proceed to stop sign.
- Turn right onto Highway 21 and go about 500 feet (152 meters) to the intersection.
- Turn left on Highway 96 south.
- Stay on 96 for 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometers) to an intersection with a stop light.
- This will be County Road 25.
- Turn left and proceed approximately one mile (1.6 kilometer) to County Road 27.
- There will be a state historic marker for “Gypsum” on the right.
- Turn left on County Road 27 and go approximately 1.4 miles (2.25 kilometers) to Field Street.
- Turn right onto Field Street and proceed 0.1 miles (0.16 km) to the Hiram Edson Sign and turn right on the farm road.
- The Hiram Edson Welcome Center will be visable ahead of you.
- Park your vehicle in the parking lot, next to the welcome center.
